Breath of Life: God’s Resurrection Power

Are there dead things in your life that need resurrecting? Maybe it’s a marriage gone stale by the trials of everyday life? Maybe it’s a friendship that keeps getting put on hold? Maybe it’s your spiritual walk? Maybe it’s your bank account or career path? Or maybe you have given up on some dreams or prayers, because you believe they are dead and have no chance for life.
Well, I want to remind you that we serve a God who resurrects dead things. There are multiple times in scripture where God literally gives the breath of life to dead things. It starts at the beginning in Genesis 2:7,
“Then the LORD God formed the man out of the dust from the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and man became a living being” (CSB).
And in the end, in Revelation, we see God still breathing life. This time into the two witnesses after they had been dead for three and a half days (Revelation 11:11).
God breathes life into things that are not alive but are worth reviving.
That word breathe in Hebrew means to breathe, blow, kindle, and the act of breathing life. I believe it’s not just the mere act of taking a breath that keeps us alive, but it is God’s Spirit breathing into us that gives us life.
John tells us that the enemy comes to steal and destroy things in our lives, but God comes to give us life in abundance (10:10). As Christians, we are not meant to live a lifeless existence and yet, I believe that many of us do. Life becomes too hard, and our hearts are broken, so we stop believing that he is the Resurrection God who can bring dead things back to life.
I’m not sure what you are struggling with today, dear friend, or what you are grieving as lost, but I want to encourage you that God is the one who brings life. He can breathe life into your weary soul, into that broken relationship, into the prodigal child, and into any of our circumstances that need life in them.
Even today, we can start to bring those dead things to him in prayer. As children of God, we can ask him to bring revival to our hearts, our marriages, our jobs, and our lives. He is the God of Resurrection Power.
Psalms 150:6 says, “Let everything that breathes praise the Lord.” May we praise the Lord for being a God who breathes life.

Welcome, I'm Darcy!
If we were in person, I'd invite you to sit on the porch while we shared a cup of coffee or tea. My desire is for us to have conversations about real life and how God and His Word brings us hope and changes lives. Pull up a chair, grab your favorite drink, and be encouraged as you read through some things God has put on my heart to strengthen us. Thanks for stopping by!
