March Favorites (& a few other things)

March Favorites;

Hi everyone! It’s been a bit busy around here, and I can hardly believe it is April 1. The days are ticking by towards summer. Being in Florida, we have already had a few days that feel like summer.

Since it’s a new month, I thought I’d share some of my favorite things from March, like I did for February. (click here to read it) Only this month, I’d like to add a few things that aren’t working for me because that is what life is like, right? Some things are working for us, and others just aren’t!

  1. Beach – I said we live in Florida, so one of my favorite things last month was to spend a day on our white sandy beaches. Getting sun and putting our toes in the sand felt wonderful! Besides the mountains, the beach is my favorite place to be.

  1. Mountains – We took a vacation to the Tennessee mountains for Spring Break. It was a great time with my husband and youngest son. A little hiking, a little sightseeing, a little daydreaming about future retirement, and lots of reading and quiet. My kind of vacation!

  1. WritingSouthern Christian Writers Conference selected my devotion for publication in their March Writing Challenge! The theme was changing seasons. While seasons change, I am thankful Jesus never does. You can read about it here.

  1. Bible Study – I am doing a bible study for Easter – The Power and Promise of Easter by Lisa Harper and Christine Caine. There is so much in this study, and it has been good for my soul to focus on Christ the King. Easter is not a season – it’s our life – it’s the gospel through and through, every single day of our lives.

  1. Book Festival – I had an opportunity to be a part of a local book festival with my local chapter of Word Weavers. Gretchen Huesemann and Gail Scoates both had their books for sale, and I had several compilation books for sale. What a wonderful community of authors and great event. Thank you to Books by the Bay for putting on this festival. And thanks to my hubs for coming with us to set up and stay the day to support.March Favorites; Book Festival; Authors; Books by the Bay
  2. Pens – Yes, I am one of those people who loves office supplies a little too much. And I have two favorite pens right now that I am using. I love a good fine point gel pen and these are fantastic.
  3. Walking Shoes – A few months ago, someone recommended these New Balance 327 shoes, and I bought a pair. With all our traveling this month and events, I put them to the test, and I love them. I am certain I will be picking up another pair in a different color!

Now a few things that really didn’t work for me in March.

  1. Walking Routine – While I had hoped to start walking in the morning or evening after work, it just hasn’t happened for me. I think I made it less than 5 times. I still work hard to get some steps in by taking breaks at work and pacing around the house at night, but I hope to get back to a regular walking routine now that there is more daylight after I get home from work. We will see.

  1. Keeping my mouth shut – Let’s just admit that sometimes that is a hard thing to do. Several times this month, I said a few things I wish I hadn’t. I have to remind myself that God gave me two ears and only one mouth. Thankfully, God is quick to convict so I was able to apologize (if needed) and reflect on what it means to just listen. All too often, I’m quick to solve an issue or share my experience. I want to listen more this year, so this is a continual work in my life!

  1. Attending Rotary – Our club meets once a week, and this month I just didn’t have the bandwidth for it. Which is a bit of a challenge for me as I am the secretary of our club. Thankfully, we have a great president who happens to be a dear, dear friend. She stepped in to pick up my slack. I probably should add another to the “favorites” for March – friends who step in the gap when we need to take a step back. We need that, don’t we? I am so thankful for her!

Well, that is a wrap for March for me!  How about you? Any favorites from March or things that didn’t work for you? Drop a comment below. I’d love to hear from you.

Welcome, I'm Darcy!

If we were in person, I'd invite you to sit on the porch while we shared a cup of coffee or tea. My desire is for us to have conversations about real life and how God and His Word brings us hope and changes lives. Pull up a chair, grab your favorite drink, and be encouraged as you read through some things God has put on my heart to strengthen us. Thanks for stopping by!
