Welcome September
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1, NIV, italics mine)
September is one of my favorite months. Maybe because it’s my birthday month, but mainly because it represents a new season.
For those who live in the north, it could be the start of cooler temperatures or trees that are beginning to change colors. For us on the Gulf Coast, it often means hurricanes (I wouldn’t say I like that), but temperatures may drop by a degree or two. More than anything, it signals football season!
School is in, bringing a welcome routine from the summer months. Football games on Saturday and Sunday, fall events, and hello to pumpkin spice! For those of you who like pumpkin spice. The jury is still out for me on that. Shock. I know. I’m one of those people. Give me a vanilla or caramel latte any day over pumpkin spice.
September always feels like a new season for me – a beginning, and I’m thankful for it after the dog days of summer. Additionally, I enjoy the change since August is a tough month for me personally. A few years ago, my mom passed away in August, one day after her birthday.
My sister and I always discuss how hard it feels when we see the days ticking by on the calendar as it gets closer to her birthday and death day. There is no separation of the two. And yet I know that God, in His Sovereignty, knew those would be her days.
But I also know that September is always right around the corner, bringing fresh hope and a chance to look forward to a new season, new activities, and new opportunities to grow in my faith. Regardless of our current season, there is always a new season ahead.
Please comment below and tell me your favorite season or fall coffee!

Welcome, I'm Darcy!
If we were in person, I'd invite you to sit on the porch while we shared a cup of coffee or tea. My desire is for us to have conversations about real life and how God and His Word brings us hope and changes lives. Pull up a chair, grab your favorite drink, and be encouraged as you read through some things God has put on my heart to strengthen us. Thanks for stopping by!
